Mayor Eric (Rick) Britton

Rick Britton was elected on to  Council January 2007, elected Mayor March 2008, born Eric Charles but has always been called Rick. His grandmother and father were born in Boulia. Rick and Ann (wife) have two children Thomas and Claire, Ann is a very passionate photographer. Rick and Ann operate Goodwood Pastoral Company Pty Ltd, Rick's family owned beef operation. Ann is the local Country Woman Association Branch President and Rick is the Boulia Ag-force Branch President. Both are heavily involved in the hands on work and practical assistance for many years with the Boulia Easter Campdraft, Races and Rodeo weekend and The Back to Boulia Event held during September. Goodwood Pastoral Company was the host employers for RITE which is a rural training scheme for young people. Goodwood is also a case study for Grazing Land Management. 

Rick is one of the few lucky ones in life that has a job where Confucius says "choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life." Rick's passion is his family, the land he lives on and the Community he lives in. Hobbies are reading, watching NRL and horse riding when time permits.

 

Councillor Roy Smith

Elected to Council in 1994, Roy was raised in Bedourie where the family own the Royal Hotel. Roy and his wife Carol own and operate Bilby Haulage, they have three children, Brad, Kurt and Casey. Roy enjoys motorbikes, fishing and shooting, he assists with Community events and is a member of the SSAA Boulia Branch.

  

Councillor Sam Beauchamp

Elected to Council in 2004, Sam is a beef cattle producer, an electrical contractor, and an active member of the Community especially with the hosting of the rodeo and the races. In 2006 Sam was elected as Boulia Shire Council's Citizen of the Year. Sam represents the Council on land, health and safety and historical issues.

   

Councillor Kelsey Neilson

Kelsey Neilson lives at Two Rivers Station, 70 klms north of Boulia with her husband Dale and her two sons Jack and Michael.  Kelsey has lived at Two Rivers for over twenty years and is passionate about the land and it's sustainable management and developing networks for greater communication within the Community and links between the bush and the city.  She is a member of the Georgina Diamantina Catchment Committee and a board member of the Regional Resource Management body Desert Channels Queensland. Mrs Neilson is part of the team that organises the annual Back to Boulia Weekend and is a long time member and current Treasurer of the Boulia Rodeo Association.  Kelsey's interests include writing bush fiction (she had two books published in 2008) cattle, horses, rugby league and cricket.

 

Councillor Ron McGlinchey

Ron McGlinchey was born and raised in Boulia on the family property Macsland where he still lives. He served as Mayor of the Boulia Shire Council for 14 years and was defeated in the Local Council election of 2004. For many years Ron has worked tirelessly for the Boulia Community, and in particular for the Boulia Rodeo Association, where he has been  the Bar Convenor for many years. Ron is a devoted family man with three children and one grandchild.
