The Boulia Shire is home to some great recreational and sporting facilities.

The Boulia Sports & Aquatic Centre boasts a large indoor and outdoor facility, allowing for a variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, netball, badminton, tennis, swimming, football and more. The centre also houses a children's playground and electric BBQ making for a great day out for the whole family.

Neighbouring the Sports Centre is the Water Bubbler Park (entry via Templeton Street (next to the SES Shed)). **Currently closed until further notice **

Robinson Park, located on Boulia’s main street, Herbert Street, contains toilet facilities (including disabled access), children's play equipment and an electric barbeque. A skate park and amphitheatre is also located within this area.

The Hamilton Street Park Area is located on the corner of Herbert and Hamilton Street (on the way out to the Mt Isa Road). It is a fully fenced off leash dog area with toilets and shaded seating.

Plan of Management for Parks, Reserves and Sportsgrounds

A Plan of Management (PoM) is a long-term land management document for all public land classified as community land. The document describes the characteristics of the applicable land, requirements for its management and permissible uses, both now and into the future.

In line with the key priorities of Council’s Strategic Corporate Plan 2019-2024, Council has developed a Plan of Management for Parks, Reserves and Sportsgrounds. A copy of the document can be downloaded by clicking on the icon below.

Council aims to provide a wide range of recreational facilities and opportunities, contributing to the health and social life of the community. Cycle paths are planned to link some parks and sportsgrounds around the local area and Council has created a Cycle Map – ‘Boulia LGA Cycle Network’ to reflect this. 'Weather through the Aeons' - the toilet blocks at Robinson Park are adorned with a beautiful mural thanks to funding from the FNQ and NQ Monsoon Recovery Program.
