There are two State Primary Schools within the Boulia Shire, the Boulia State School and the Urandangie State School.
The Boulia State School is a three-teacher school. Boulia State school now has kindy with seven little ones enrolled for 2017.
The Urandangi State School has two teachers and 29 children.
After grade 6 the majority of children finish their education in Mount Isa, Charters Towers, Townsville or Brisbane. Children who do not live in the townships of either Urandangie or Boulia, complete their schooling by School of the Air or are taught by a Governess. These children also sometimes finish their high school education away from home.
