Boulia fibre is LIVE!

After much anticipation, the nbn fibre line is now live within the Boulia township.
The new network should deliver improved connectivity and will give eligible homes and businesses access to faster internet speeds and increased reliability.

What now?
If you would like to learn more about getting onto the nbn fibre service, you can go to www.nbnco.com.au and use the ‘Get Started’ or ‘Browse’ options to read more about the nbn service. 

If you are ready to connect, you can go straight to: www.nbn.com.au/checkyouraddress and type in your address. This will provide you with information directly relating to your premises and once you click on ‘Speak to a provider’, this will open a list of retail service providers and the plans they offer (plans and costs vary between providers). Choose your preferred service provider and then contact them and ask to order a fibre service.

To support the fibre going live in Boulia, an official launch is planned for early this year. Further details about the launch will be released to the community once available. 

 

School Student Broadband Initiative
To assist school students in this change over, the School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) has also been activated. This Australian Government driven program enables eligible applicants (residents not connected to the NBN network for 14 days prior to the request) who have a child at school (Kindergarten to Year 12) to receive free home internet with certain conditions.

To apply, residents can contact the National Referral Centre on 1800 954 610 Monday - Friday, 10am - 6pm (AEDT) or visit www.anglicarevic.org.au/student-internet/ and answer some questions. If eligible, they will receive a voucher to connect to the internet through RSP’s who have registered with the SSBI. If they have previous NBN equipment, the internet will be immediately turned back on through the NBN network.  If not, an appointment will be made for the installation of the equipment (most are done within 2 weeks). 

There is NO CHARGE for the application, equipment, setup, or connection and the connection is provided free for 12 months. After this period of time the resident can take over the plan and pay the monthly fee; disconnect; or go with another provider.
