The Boulia Shire Council takes a proactive approach in keeping the community informed and prepared for potential disasters. The Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) and the District Disaster Management Group (DDMG) ensure, as best as possible, community preparedness and recovery.

Preparing for an Emergency
The Boulia Shire is not immune to natural disasters and whilst these types of events are not common we cannot afford to become complacent, therefore Council has, in conjunction with the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG), prepared a suite of Disaster Management Plans to address the disaster management needs of the Boulia Shire.

Community Recovery
Disasters can have a huge effect on individuals and communities has a whole. Those effected may require a range of support both immediately after and in the medium to long term after a disaster.

The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy have released a Community Recovery General Information Pack that outlines a range of information regarding community recovery after disasters including financial assistance and support services available.
